Permanent Exhibition

During Master Yin Shun’s retreat, this room originally served as living quarters for lay practitioners and was later used as monastic quarters. During the restoration of the retreat quarter in 2020, U×U Studio of Kaohsiung was invited to redesign the space.

Using geometric forms, the design team assembled 1,750 round wooden beads into a circular installation symbolizing the perfect wisdom embodied in the aspiration to “seek the Buddha Way above and transform sentient beings below.” Each wooden bead also evokes the Buddhist imagery of “a world in every flower and a Tathagata in every leaf,” suggesting the purity and boundlessness of the Dharma realm.

The display cases were adapted from the original wardrobes, allowing the historical character of both the furnishings and artifacts to be preserved.
